Brief Introduction |
Borys N. Mykhaylov was born in 1951. In 1969, he joined Kharkov Aviation Institute and, after studying two courses, in 1971 he transferred to Nikolayev Shipbuilding Institute as the third year student. In 1975, he graduated from Shipbuilding Institute as a shipbuilding engineer. From 1975 to 1976, Borys N. Mykhaylov studied at Nikolayev Shipbuilding Institute at special courses for English language in-depth study. In 1976, he joined graduate school at Ship Design Department and, after three years of training, was allocated to work as an engineer at research sector of Nikolayev Shipbuilding Institute. In 1982, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on the selection of the main elements of large-capacity methane carriers with spherical cargo tanks (thesis adviser PhD, associate professor Alvian N. Vasedchenko). In 1983, Borys N. Mykhaylov became an assistant at Hull Design and Ship Devices Department. He actively participated in the research work under the direction of D.S., Professor Vitaliy V. Kozlyakov, developed a program for monitoring the strength and stability for oil carriers of "Boris Butoma" series, participated in m/v "Olvia"improvement, developed and tested the "Skarus" deep-sea apparatus system. Since 1986 PhD, Senior Lecturer Borys N. Mykhaylov – under Ship Hull Design Department. He gives lectures on the disciplines "Ship Hull Design", "Specialized Ships Hull Design", directs course and diploma design, and supervises students practice. His research interests covered the designing methane carrier’s problems, the estimating and forecasting of the transport ships hulls metal consumption. Borys N. Mykhaylov actively develops criteria for comprehensive assessment of transport ships hulls construction quality, designs ships bow, taking into account possible collisions. He is the author of number of manuals, scientific works. He is the most active participant in sports competitions among Department teachers, more than once he defended the sports honor of Shipbuilding Department. Repeatedly he served as Head of Department. Since 1999 to 2002, Borys N. Mykhaylov studied at the doctorate of Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding. He takes an active part in the preparation of foreign students. In particular, he directs classes in English at – Jiangsu University of Science And Technology (China). He has over 50 scientific publications. Some of them are given below. |
